Dissolves instead of cuts - how did he decide this?  Did he think it matched the sound of the wind?

The sound of the voices, poorly recorded ADR, do not sound like they are from the scene in the forest.  

I imagine he decided he liked them, though, as the strange interior-space quality makes it seem like they come from thought more than speech.  

I'd like to imagine that his teacher, Tarkovsky,  supported these unconventional touches.
